Columns Community MMORPG Opinion “I have identified four problems with my plan,” I announced over voice chat as I ran forward in Palworld . Moments later, I got aggro from something much higher-level than I was and announced “I have identified a fifth, unrelated problem with my plan.” My death that immediately followed was, perhaps, eminently predictable. What was not predictable is the fact that just running to get my stuff back then took far longer and far more deaths than I was happy with. To be very clear, the first death? Funny. The second? Somewhat neutral. The third? Starting to get downright annoying because I wasn’t actually playing the game but trying to get back the stuff I use to play the game. But it does, at least, provide an amusing question about when deaths in MMOs go from funny to annoying. So when do you think dying goes from funny (or at least not actively a problem) to being actively annoying? Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind !
